This biotech business is pioneering an approach to ecosystem regeneration by harnessing cutting‑edge biological innovation to restore natural environments and accelerate carbon sequestration. Headquartered in Edinburgh, they are scaling internationally, bringing nature-positive solutions to a global stage. As they expand into new markets, including North America, we are seeking a Finance Manager to join the team at a pivotal stage in the journey. With international growth comes increased complexity and scale in financial operations — this is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of finance within a purpose-led organisation that’s redefining how the world approaches environmental restoration.
As Finance Manager, you will lead all aspects of financial management and operations. You will bring rigour, structure, and foresight to a company moving at pace — working closely with the leadership team to ensure that financial reporting, data, and systems evolve in line with our growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Own all finance operations, including management accounting, cash flow, forecasting, and reporting.
- Lead the development and automation of financial systems and processes for scalability and accuracy.
- Deliver clear, data‑driven insights to support leadership decision‑making.
- Manage outsourced bookkeeping/accounting partners and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and audit requirements.
- Drive budgeting, cost control, and financial planning across departments.
- Support leadership with financial modelling for growth, investment, and commercial planning.
- Ensure financial governance, transparency, and control as the organisation scales internationally.
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
- Strong operational finance experience, ideally in a high‑growth SME, start‑up, or scale‑up.
- Experience with group accounting and intercompany transactions.
- Skilled in preparing consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, cash flow, etc.).
- Broad understanding of accounting standards and general ledger management.
- Comfortable with modern finance tools, automation, and data‑driven insights.
- Hands‑on and detail‑oriented, with experience across both operational finance and strategic modelling.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills — able to translate numbers into clear, actionable insights.
- A proactive self‑starter who enjoys autonomy and thrives in a collaborative, mission‑driven culture.
- Experience working with physical products, including cross‑border shipping, inventory accounting, and raw material cost tracking.
