We are seeking a talented Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join a fast-growing engineering team working on cutting-edge continuous manufacturing technology for the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. This is a hands-on role involving control system design, instrumentation specification, commissioning, and client-facing technical support. You will play a key role in ensuring advanced reactor systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently across customer sites in the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and deploy PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for continuous processing equipment.
- Develop control philosophies, I/O schedules, and functional design specifications.
- Specify and commission process instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature sensors, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with ATEX, IEC, SIL, and relevant industrial standards.
- Lead FAT and SAT, support on-site commissioning, and troubleshoot control system faults.
- Provide ongoing technical support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Control Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation, or Automation.
- Proven experience in control or instrumentation engineering within chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or process industries.
- Hands-on experience with PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider), HMI/SCADA platforms, and industrial communication protocols.
- Strong understanding of process control fundamentals (PID, interlocks, alarms).
- Experience supporting live process commissioning in regulated or safety-critical environments.
Desirable
- Exposure to continuous processing or reactor-based systems.
- Knowledge of ATEX/hazardous area design and GxP/ISO standards.
- Familiarity with skid-mounted process equipment and advanced process analytics.
