Bioprocess Development Lead

Our client is a fast-growing biotech company seeking a Bioprocessing Development Lead to drive the transition of its pioneering cell culture platform from lab bench to pilot scale.

Their technology has revolutionised the way that plant-derived ingredients are produced, using sustainable methods of cultivation without the need to destroy trees or habitats.

We are seeking a senior bioprocessing professional to lead the scaling of the company’s biomanufacturing capabilities to meet growing customer needs.

We’re looking for a bioprocessing professional to:

• Design, establish, and operate pilot-scale cell culture biomanufacturing systems (upstream & downstream).
• Lead the scale-up of novel production processes (from 1L to ~100L bioreactors).
• Develop and optimise downstream purification for plant-based bioactives.
• Work cross-functionally with R&D, commercial, and senior leadership to meet project and customer milestones.

You Bring:

• MSc, PhD or EngD in Bioprocessing, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience in bioprocess development, scale-up, and tech transfer.
• Expertise in downstream processing techniques (e.g., filtration, extraction, analysis).
• A collaborative mindset and some experience of team leadership in dynamic environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
• Experience with biomanufacturing QA/QC, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
