Kleboe Jardine are delighted to partner with ElectraDX at the beginning of a transformational journey. The business has an ambitious vision and is founded by a proven team with a track record of scaling companies, such as LumiraDX and Inverness Medical (LifeScan) that have achieved multi-billion-pound exits. ElectraDX is an innovative startup developing affordable, user-friendly diagnostic platforms for community and home use. Their products deliver rapid, precise, and actionable test results that improve health outcomes.
As the company advances its next generation point-of-care diagnostic instruments, we are now seeking a hands-on Electronics Engineer to play a pivotal role in the development of the company’s diagnostic platforms and instrumentation. This is a rare opportunity to join a highly experienced founding team and contribute to the design and delivery of medical devices that have the potential to transform access to diagnostics worldwide.
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role responsible for the development of electronic hardware across ElectraDX’s diagnostic instrument programmes. You will take ownership of the electronics design lifecycle, working from concept through prototype, verification and validation to a market-ready product. Working closely with software, mechanical and assay development teams, you will ensure the instrumentation platform delivers reliable, accurate electrochemical measurements in a regulated medical device environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Design & Development
- Lead electronic design across instrument platforms
- Develop analogue and mixed-signal circuits for biosensor measurement systems
- Design and layout PCBs using Altium Designer
- Support hardware bring-up, debugging and performance characterisation
- Optimise electrochemical measurement architecture for biosensor detection
- Work with assay teams to translate sensor requirements into hardware specifications
- Diagnose signal artefacts such as noise, drift and non-linearity
- Lead hardware verification and validation activities
- Contribute to design reviews and engineering risk assessments
- Support compliance with relevant medical device regulations and standards
- Work closely with firmware, software and mechanical engineers
- Support design transfer to manufacturing partners
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the engineering team
About You
You are a hands-on electronics engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and building real products. You will likely have:
- Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar
- 5+ years of hands-on electronics engineering experience in a product development environment, with demonstrable examples of taking hardware from concept to validated product.
- Strong experience in analogue and mixed-signal circuit design
- Experience designing multi-layer PCBs
- Experience working with embedded microcontrollers
- Proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout, including multi-layer boards with controlled impedance requirements.
- Experience preparing and maintaining design history file documentation to regulatory standards.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as medical devices or diagnostics
This is not just a pure electronics design role, it is crucial to understand how electronics interact with the broader diagnostic system. The requirement is for someone who can look at the whole instrument development process, especially where there are issues at the interface between subsystems.
Why Join ElectraDX?
This is a unique opportunity to join a diagnostics company at an early stage, backed by a leadership team that has previously built globally successful diagnostic businesses. You will benefit from:
- High technical ownership and autonomy
- The opportunity to see your engineering decisions translate into real diagnostic products
