Klasu is a UK online tutoring marketplace helping students and parents find verified tutors for personalised online lessons. We provide tutor profiles, messaging, scheduling, payment processing and an integrated online classroom.
We are currently looking for experienced English tutors to support students across GCSE and A-Level.
About the opportunity
As a Klasu tutor, you will create your own public profile, choose your hourly rate and set the times you are available to teach. Students and parents can view your experience, qualifications, prices and availability before contacting you or requesting a lesson.
This is a flexible, self-employed opportunity that can fit around teaching, examining, studying or other tutoring work.
You will:
- Deliver engaging one-to-one English lessons online
- Support GCSE English Language and English Literature students
- Provide A-Level English tuition if this is within your expertise
- Adapt lessons to each student’s ability, exam board and goals
- Help students develop confidence, analytical writing and exam technique
- Maintain accurate availability on your Klasu profile
- Respond professionally and promptly to student messages and lesson requests
- Follow Klasu’s safeguarding and professional conduct requirements
We are particularly interested in tutors with experience of AQA, Edexcel, OCR or Cambridge International qualifications.
What we’re looking for
- Currently based in the UK
- Able to teach the UK curriculum and offer lessons during suitable UK hours
- Strong subject expertise in GCSE English Language and/or English Literature
- A-Level English teaching experience is highly desirable
- Familiarity with UK exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, OCR or Cambridge International
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience
- Excellent communication and a clear, engaging teaching style
- Reliable internet access, webcam and microphone
- Comfortable using online teaching tools
- Willing to keep student communication, bookings and lessons on the Klasu platform for safeguarding
- Committed to maintaining accurate availability and responding promptly to students
Qualified teachers, current or former examiners and tutors with SEN experience are especially encouraged to apply.
Verification
To protect students and maintain the quality of the marketplace, applicants must complete Klasu’s verification process. This includes identity and proof-of-address checks, qualification checks where applicable, and a minimum of two professional references.
A current enhanced DBS certificate is strongly preferred, although it is not an essential requirement.
What Klasu provides
- Freedom to set your own hourly rate and schedule
- Student messaging and lesson-request tools
- Automated bookings, payments and reminders
- An integrated online classroom with video, screen sharing and an interactive whiteboard
- Automatic payments directly to your connected bank account
Students may request a free 15-minute introduction before deciding whether to book paid lessons.
Earnings and employment status
Tutors choose the hourly rate displayed on their profile. Klasu deducts a 30% platform commission from completed paid lessons, covering payment processing and the technology used to operate the marketplace.
Tutors work on a self-employed basis and are responsible for their own tax and National Insurance arrangements. This is not a salaried or employed position, and Klasu cannot guarantee a particular number of students, bookings or working hours.
