Klarent Hospitality operates branded hotels across key locations in the UK, Ireland and France. We nurture talent, smart investment, and operational excellence to drive strong performance and sustainable growth across our hotel portfolio.
Due to continued growth, we are expanding our Finance Team and are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Accountant to join our Glasgow Head Office. This is an ideal entry-level role for a motivated finance graduate looking to build a strong technical foundation and develop a long-term career in finance within a growing hospitality group. The role will actively support progression towards a technical qualified accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA or ACCA), alongside structured on-the-job learning and development. The candidate will be part of an experienced group finance team, with the role providing an excellent learning and development opportunity to launch a successful career in finance.
The Role:
The Trainee Accountant will gain broad, hands-on exposure across the finance function, including commercial finance, statutory reporting, VAT, tax, treasury and group accounting.
This role is designed to support structured learning and professional development while working closely with experienced finance professionals across a diverse portfolio of property and corporate entities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the preparation of monthly and quarterly management fee, rent and intercompany invoicing
- Assisting with cost recharges, including capitalised labour and travel costs
- Maintaining trackers for corporate and property-level costs and supporting internal recharge processes
- Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and month-end and quarter-end close activities
- Providing treasury support, including cash reporting, bank postings and monitoring cash positions
- Maintaining fixed asset registers and supporting audit and statutory reporting processes
- Assisting with VAT returns, supporting schedules and payment processing
- Supporting compliance filings (e.g. Companies House, ONS and similar requirements)
- Working collaboratively with management accounting, financial accounting, tax and treasury teams
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the wider finance function
The Ideal Candidate:
- Recently graduated (or due to graduate) in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline
- Strong numerical ability with a genuine interest in finance and commercial reporting
- Well organised, detail-focused and committed to accuracy
- Very strong technical Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, Power Query and building robust models)
- Strong interest in technology and AI and how to integrate into financial process and reporting.
- Proactive, curious and eager to learn within a fast-paced environment
- A clear communicator, confident working with a range of stakeholders
- A positive team player with a professional and trustworthy approach
- Keen to build a long-term career in finance, ideally working towards a professional qualification
Previous finance experience (such as an internship, placement year or part-time role) would be advantageous, but not essential.
