Group/Division
SPTS wafer processing solutions include market‑leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry‑release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD®), available with a range of wafer‑handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production or volume production environments. SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia‑Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centres and qualified local agents.
Job Description / Preferred Qualifications
Primary Purpose of Role
This role will include people management, budgeting, project management and PLC programs, as well as significant interaction with the Process, Automation, Software, Product Management and Operations groups within SPTS/KLA. Reporting directly to the Director PVD Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a multidisciplinary team comprised of electronic, electrical, mechanical and hardware development engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Determining group priorities
- Allocating and monitoring tasks for each engineer
- Budgeting and tracking expenditure
- Defining and executing development projects as required by the Product Roadmap, including Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP)
- Manage new product development (NPD)
- Liaise with other teams to execute on PLC programs
- Engineering input to close out L4 escalations
- Taking responsibility for safe product design and formal regulatory compliance
Key Interactions
- Representing the Equipment Group within the wider Engineering team, including close interaction with Software, Automation, Process, Technical Support teams
- Representing Equipment and support Groups external to SWD Engineering, including Product Management, Factory and Field Operations such as Material Control, Build and Test, Purchasing, Spares and regional Field Service (Europe, North America and Asia)
- Understanding of modern engineering change control IT (ERP/MRP)
- Writing, delegating or contributing to technical reports, patent applications and technical papers for publication at conferences, seminars etc.
Skills And Experience
- Extensive experience in the Semiconductor or High Tech industry
- Experience of PVD sputtering technology developments highly desirable
- Previous experience of a leadership or management role advantageous
- The ability to work both autonomously and as part of an extended management team, including project management and a team‑playing ethic when part of wider projects
- Project management qualification desirable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
- Excellent IT skills (Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint)
