Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centres, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The SPTS division provides advanced wafer processing solutions—including etch, deposition and vapor-based technologies—designed for R&D through high-volume production. With a global presence and strong customer support network, SPTS helps manufacturers across industries improve performance, yield and cost-efficiency. It also offers comprehensive service and spare parts through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

Part of the KLA Engineering division, the Platform Engineering and Development Group delivers automation solutions that integrate KLA process systems into semiconductor fabs worldwide. This new role offers exposure to emerging technologies and varied projects, including international travel to support product installations and customer applications. We are seeking an experienced multidisciplinary engineer with strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical knowledge to support system operation, integration, calibration, diagnostics, Alpha/Beta systems, and retrofit activities, while providing design feedback and improvement recommendations. You will work with specialists on equipment design and integration, delivering to tight deadlines in a highly regulated industry. We will seek to give as much notice as possible for travel, but trips may be at very short notice and can be for up to 4 weeks at a time. One-week visits would be more typical. Weekend travel to site may be required. KLA will provide travel expenses and accommodation, in line with our travel policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain development and continuous improvement of Platform semiconductor handling hardware.
  • Support new hardware designs through build, integration, fault-finding, and PLC readiness.
  • Lead installation, commissioning, and technical resolution of new products at customer sites.
  • Travel internationally up to 50% to support critical customer engagements and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Translate customer requirements and factory learnings into business-critical design improvements.
  • Shape technical responses to customer specifications and system-level requirements.
  • Define robust design specifications that align customer needs, product strategy, and engineering standards.
  • Champion serviceability, reliability, and maintainability in new product designs.
  • Ensure machine performance and compliance against relevant international standards.
  • Produce clear technical reports that support decision-making, risk management, and customer confidence.
  • Lead hardware test strategy, validation planning, and performance characterisation.
  • Produce support documentation and procedures.
  • Influence cross-functional teams to optimise hardware performance, reliability, and customer readiness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum HNC Electrical/ Mechanical/ Mechatronics.
  • Experience working in manufacturing role with an eye for continuous improvement.
  • Experience in a customer facing role would be desirable.
  • An understanding of machinery safety and safe working practices.
  • Experience in diagnosing faults with an analytical mind.
  • AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent experience; 3D CAD experience is desired.
  • Good understanding of MS Office applications.
