SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Job Description/Preferred Qualifications: Here at KLA we design, develop, and manufacture high-tech machines for the global semiconductor market. Our Mechanical Design Engineer will be working as part of a small multi-disciplinary design team with primary responsibilities involving the mechanical design of semiconductor processing tools.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Designing 3D parts/assemblies using Solid Edge CAD
- Creating/detailing 2D draft drawings using Solid Edge CAD
- Creating engineering bills of materials
- Bill of material cost control
- Supplier contact
- Building and testing prototypes
- Leading small projects from concept to implementation
- Collaborating with other teams across the company

- Has experience in designing parts/assemblies and creating/detailing 2D draft drawings using Solid Edge CAD
- Is experienced in design of machinery
- Has a proven experience in report writing
- Has a flexible work ethic, and be willing to work overtime if necessary
- Can demonstrate analytical and fault-finding skills
- Can use their own initiative
- Has good communication skills
- Enjoys working in a team environment
Experience in the following areas is desirable but not essential:
- A good understanding of Machinery safety regulations and EU harmonized standards including PL rating, Risk Assessments and CE marking
- Previous experience of working in the semiconductor or hi-technology related industry would be advantageous
- Design for manufacture
- COMSOL multi physics simulation software
- Some appreciation of software development
- Some knowledge of ERP/PLM systems
- Experience in complicated P & ID's
- Knowledge of GD & T
