KLA Instruments is hiring a Product Development Engineer with experience in optics and optical metrology to support the development of advanced inspection and metrology products for scientific and semiconductor manufacturing. This role will involve requirements analysis, system design and testing of complex systems using expertise from multiple technical disciplines.
The successful candidate will contribute to the design, integration, testing, and validation of precision mechanical and opto-mechanical subsystems, supporting products from early development through release to manufacturing and sustaining support. Responsibilities include:
- Working with marketing and engineering teams to define system architecture.
- Creating and executing test plans to validate system performance.
- Subsystem design/development, system integration, test and characterisation.
- Identifying program and technical risks throughout the life cycle of the product and establishing mitigation plans to reduce and retire risks.
- Supporting internal and external customers in implementing processes to build and use the tool effectively and solve intricate problems to optimise tool performance.
Qualifications:
- A strong background in engineering or physical science and demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in optics, opto-mechanics, and motion control systems.
- An understanding of Optical, Electromechanical and Software systems and their interactions in the context of complex industrial equipment is a plus.
- Familiarity with scientific and statistical analysis tools and SW tools such as Matlab, and JMP is beneficial.
- Experience with scripting languages, such as Python and/or LabView.
- Enthusiastic communicator to solve problems for internal and external customers.
- Familiarity with Ellipsometry/ microscopy/Interferometry and image analysis methods is a plus.
