Overview
In this role you will join the Equipment Engineering and Development Group to deliver automation solutions that integrate SPTS process systems in customer fabs. You will develop and fault-find hardware for etch equipment, support Alpha & Beta systems and retrofits, and collaborate with process engineers to optimize hardware reliability. Expect international travel and work under tight timelines in a regulated industry. The role combines design, testing, and field support to drive customer-ready hardware improvements.

Responsibilities
- Maintain, develop, and improve ETCH semiconductor process equipment hardware
- Build and fault-find in new designs in the factory as part of PLC processes
- Installation and fault finding of new products at customer sites
- Travel internationally ~50% to assist customers
- Report improvements and customer requirements back to the factory
- Wiring harness and mechanical design
- Improve serviceability of new designs
- Testing and compliance of machines to international standards
- Technical report writing
- Plan and execute hardware testing, validation, and performance characterisation
- Work with process engineers to optimise hardware performance for reliability and process capability
- Support technology development programmes from concept to customer-ready
Key requirements
- Minimum HNC Electrical/ Mechanical/ Mechatronics or related field and experience in a customer facing role
- Experience in a design role with a focus on continuous improvement
- Understanding of Machinery safety regulations and EU harmonized standards (EN60204, EN13849) preferred
- Experience diagnosing faults and analytical mindset
- AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent
- 3D CAD experience desired
- Bachelor’s level degree and 5 years of related work experience
