Business Unit Responsible for the growth of our world leading wafer handling and process systems, the Platform Engineering Group are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team based in Newport, Wales. This role will work closely with the Software Manager and is responsible for developing, testing, releasing and maintaining new and legacy software.
Responsibilities
- Develop industrial control software using OOD/OOP under Microsoft Windows.
- Write, test and deploy high‑quality code.
- Document work, including software design specifications, test plans and release notes.
- Test software on suitable hardware within a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Ensure all software meets required standards of safety, quality, performance and security.
Qualifications
- Experienced senior software engineer, ideally in a technical industry.
- Proven experience and/or degree qualified in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of modern software development methods and technologies.
- Experience with OOD/OOP in languages such as Java, C++, C# or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in multi‑disciplined project teams.
- Good understanding of the full software development life cycle.
- Experience of data analytics and/or AI in a machine‑controls environment is desirable.
- Excellent logical and analytical skills with strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Good time‑management and multi‑tasking skills to deliver results within strictly defined release timelines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Resilience and flexibility to respond to changing priorities.
- Comfortable working collaboratively across the business to enable successful delivery of products.
