KLA Instruments is hiring a Product Development Engineer with experience in optics and optical metrology to support the development of advanced inspection and metrology products for scientific and semiconductor manufacturing. Be part of the truly global team with collaboration with product development teams based in California, USA, Michigan, USA and Chennai, India. KLA Instruments team is looking for engineers/technologists to start advanced technology group in our state of the art facilities based in Newport, Wales. This role focuses on the design and verification of optical and opto-mechanical subsystems, working collaboratively with cross functional teams across engineering and marketing.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop optical/opto-mechanical subsystems and associated test methods.
- Carry out optical modelling, tolerance analysis, alignment and performance verification.
- Support advanced development (prototype through validation and release).
- Diagnose integration issues and contribute to root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Produce clear technical documentation (specifications, procedures, test reports).
Qualifications
- Degree (BSc/MEng/MSc/PhD) in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Practical experience in optical alignment, characterisation and troubleshooting.
- Experience in a product development environment (NPI experience desirable).
- Experience with optical/data analysis tools (e.g., Zemax/Code V, MATLAB/Python) is required.
- Ellipsometry/microscopy/interferometry experience preferred.
- Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience.
- Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years.
- Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years.
