Company Overview: The SPTS division of KLA designs, manufactures and markets wafer processing solutions for the global semiconductor and related industries. SPTS provides industry leading etch and deposition process technologies on a range of single wafer handling platforms. Group/Division: With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG) is looking for the best and the brightest research scientists, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications: KLA is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Central Engineering team based in Newport, Wales, UK. As the successful candidate, you will be an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a detailed understanding of all aspects of electrical and electronic design. You'll work in a team of mechanical and electrical design engineers responsible for power modules and communication modules across different divisions within the corporation. The engineer is responsible for designing, detailing, and testing of new electrical sub-systems for the next generation KLA tools!

Key responsibilities: In this role, you will:

  • Lead the design and document circuits for new projects.
  • Lead Design Reviews with multi-functional teams.
  • Select and detail new parts. Request quotations and place orders for prototype and pre-production builds.
  • Work closely with and manage suppliers to ensure all design requirements are specified and achieved.
  • Address and resolve product issues through the product lifecycle phases.
  • Develop the assembly procedures (Operational Method Sheets) for new assemblies, so the prototype assembly proceeds smoothly.

Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline) or hold equivalent level of qualification. Strong documentation skills, with knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, Excel, and other Microsoft365 tools. Experience in system-level Electrical Design Engineering with power distribution and communication circuits. The candidate must be a self-motivated engineer with the ability to multi-task and work independently as part of a team. You will also have the inherent desire to expand your knowledge through self-study and continuing education and training. Strong communication skills are needed for extensive interaction with vendors and team members.

Desirable experience: Development and installation experience with safety circuits. Semiconductor-industry experience is a plus (knowledge of SEMI standards). Familiarity with mains supply safety and design protocols. Familiarity with regulatory compliance is a plus. PLC implementation and programming skills are a plus. Ability to diagnose problems and hands-on problem-solving experience for sophisticated electrical subsystems. Enjoy working on leading-edge technologies.
