KL Talent Solutions is working on behalf of our client to recruit a Business Systems Specialist to join their team in Belmont, Durham.

This role is centred around maintaining, improving and developing the business's critical Excel-based systems.

These systems are relied upon daily to support commercial decisions, operational planning and reporting, making this a key position within the organisation.

We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding how complex systems work, identifying opportunities to improve them and ensuring they remain reliable, accurate and scalable.

What You'll Be Doing As the Business Systems Specialist, you'll become the subject matter expert for a range of complex Excel models and automated business tools.

Your responsibilities will include: Excel Systems Development Maintaining and enhancing large, complex Excel workbooks.

Developing new functionality using advanced formulas, named ranges and dynamic models.

Improving workbook performance and usability.

Designing new spreadsheets to support evolving business requirements.

Automation & VBA Writing, maintaining and improving VBA code.

Developing macros to automate repetitive business processes.

Reducing manual intervention through automation.

Supporting future process improvements and system enhancements.

Data & Database Integration Managing links between Excel and external systems.

Creating and maintaining SQL queries.

Working with database interfaces to ensure reliable data flow.

Maintaining data integrity across multiple business systems.

Testing & Quality Assurance Testing changes before implementation.

Identifying bugs and investigating system issues.

Ensuring calculations remain accurate following updates.

Maintaining robust error handling throughout business models.

System Governance Implementing version control across key spreadsheets.

Producing technical documentation.

Maintaining data validation rules.

Ensuring users are working from approved versions.

Supporting colleagues with system-related queries.
