Kiwa CMT is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Technician to join our team. This role primarily involves on-site work at various construction projects, with some duties based in our Derby laboratory. You will be responsible for conducting high-quality testing services mainly around the Midlands, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
About the role
- Carry out geotechnical site and laboratory testing
- Maintaining competency/authorisation for the necessary range of test procedures
- Ensure equipment is in current calibration and pre-test checks are completed
- Ensure that test equipment is checked regularly and functioning correctly, and that any failures, defects or damage is reported
- Use and maintain equipment with all due care and ensure that weekly checks are carried out
- Ensure that all necessary test information, results and QC data are recorded in the manner required by current procedures
- Maintain good site working practice at all times

- Experience in geotechnical testing
- Knowledge and experience of site and lab-based geotechnical test methods
- The ability to support training and development of other technicians
- Ability to calibrate test equipment
- Motivated and focussed, with a positive outlook/approach
- Be able to work with a varied workload
- Communication is key for this role; you will be able to make an impact and work well within a team
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Holds CSCS card
What can you expect from us in return?
- £25,389 - £32,800 per annum
- Generous Annual Leave – Starting at 25 days plus Bank Holidays, with the option to buy additional leave and increased entitlement with length of service
- 38.75 hours per week - Monday to Friday, primarily site-based with some work at the Derby laboratory. Opportunity for paid overtime, with occasional weekend work required
