Salary: £27,254 - £33,699 FTE (FET Range E) Actual Salary: £20,975 - £26,351 (Pro Rata)

Location: Kitts Green Academy, Hallmoor Road, Birmingham B33 9QY

Contract: Permanent, 32.5hrs per week, term time only

Thrive Education Partnership is a growing Multi Academy Trust established in seven special schools across the West Midlands area. An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Trust in individual schools as a pastoral officer.

Kitts Green Academy opened in September 2021 as a brand-new purpose‑built special school, to educate boys aged 6‑16 years with complex social‑emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs.

This postholder will support in the management of pupil incidents and family liaison, maintain accurate Positive Behaviour Plans and Behaviour Analysis Forms (or other forms of behaviour records) and work with others to ensure appropriate plans and strategies are in place to support pupils who have dysregulated or require pastoral support. They will also promote the positive welfare of all pupils and work with colleagues with the aim of removing any barriers to learning.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of working with children in a specialist setting or experience of working with a similar cohort
  • A good knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures and how to implement these in a school setting
  • An ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and, therefore, the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
