Principal Engineer – Consultancy
Central Bristol + 2days hybrid working
£50,000 – £60,000 + package (experience depending)
Kitson Associates is excited to share a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Principal Engineer to join a newly formed region based in Bristol. You will be an integral number two to the Director, helping to facilitate that growth.

Role Description
- Proven ability to manage clients, projects, and commercials.
- Experience liaising with Local Planning Authorities.
- Capable of taking the reins on projects and progressing into leadership roles.
- Help guide and mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and experience.
- Oversee designs to ensure they meet standards, regulations, and client needs.
- Manage resources, schedules, and deliverables to keep projects running smoothly.
- Build strong relationships with clients and external contacts like contractors and councils.
- Check and review project work to maintain high quality and resolve issues early.
- Support bids and tenders with technical input and cost estimates.
Skills and Experience
- Ideally 6+ years UK experience with 2 years’ experience in a Principal position.
- Proven experience managing a team and working on commercial elements of bringing new projects in.
- Highway design experience, dealing with Section 278 / 38.
- Drainage design, dealing with Section 104.
- Previous experience managing clients and expectations.
- Experience dealing with local planning authorities.
- Good commercial acumen.
