A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Layout Designer to work for a reputable privately owned developer based in Leicestershire. This role will report to the Technical Director.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop concept layouts for land bid submissions.
- Create detailed layouts for Reserved Matters applications.
- Perform master planning and feasibility studies for layout designs.
- Deliver design-focused tasks from initial concept through to final completion.
- Address complex site-based queries and deliver timely, practical solutions.
- Collaborate on layout designs, ensuring they evolve from conceptual stages to fully detailed construction layouts.
- Ensure layouts accommodate site constraints, maintain aesthetic and functional standards, and prioritize buildability.
- Support the development and management of the company’s house type portfolio.
- Maintain and update working drawing packages for regulatory approvals (Building Regulation/NHBC).
- Assist in technical submissions and coordination with regulatory bodies, including NHBC and Building Control.
- Maintain the house type block plan library and assist with layout designs.
- Provide planning support, including street scene designs, planning drawing packages, and material schedules.
- Manage specifications to identify cost-effective solutions for building components.
- Produce sales plans and associated materials.
Skills and Experience
- HNC/Level 4 in Construction/Urban Design.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with a UK housebuilder in an architectural capacity.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar industry-standard software.
- Strong knowledge of Planning Policy frameworks and local planning regulations.
- Familiarity with Building Regulations and NHBC standards.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Desirable
- Foundation Degree, HND, or Level 5 qualification in a related field.
