Job Purpose
The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in supporting the kitchen and food & beverage operations by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation are maintained at all times.
Working within a busy luxury hotel environment, the Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining the pot wash area, cleaning kitchen equipment, supporting chefs with basic duties when required, and ensuring all back-of-house areas remain safe, clean, and compliant with health and food safety regulations.
The hotel operates a restaurant, afternoon tea service, meetings and events facilities, weddings, bar, and terrace dining, requiring flexibility and the ability to work efficiently during both quiet and busy service periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Pot Wash & Cleaning Operations
- Operate and maintain the dishwashing and pot wash equipment efficiently and safely.
- Ensure all crockery, cutlery, glassware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and stored correctly.
- Maintain the separate pot wash area to the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene at all times.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are completed accurately and on time.
- Report any faults or maintenance issues relating to equipment immediately to the
Head Chef.
- Kitchen Support
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks as directed.
- Support the kitchen team with deliveries, stock movement, and storage.
- Ensure all kitchen workspaces remain clean, tidy, and free from hazards.
- Assist with the removal and disposal of waste, recycling, and food waste in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is available, clean, and ready for service.

- Adhere to all food safety, health and safety, and company policies and procedures.

COSHH regulations and safe chemical handling procedures.
