Job Description

Due to a physical disability, he needs assistance with all daily activities. He also has cognitive impairments, so support workers play a key role in encouraging his independence and offering him choice in his daily life. Our client is determined, good-humored, and committed to making progress. He enjoys a variety of activities, both at home and in the community.
This position is more than just care giving. As a one-on-one support worker, youll need drive, motivation, and a proactive approach in helping with his rehabilitation, including physiotherapy and speech and language therapy (SLT). Good negotiation skills are often necessary to help de-escalate any frustrations. This role suits someone who is comfortable with routine tasks like administering medication via PEG, maintaining good housekeeping, and who enjoys playing games, organizing activities, and enriching his life with meaningful experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Create and support opportunities for meaningful activities, both at home and in the community, that challenge and motivate him.
- Provide all aspects of personal care and medication administration.
- Maintain detailed documentation to a high standard.
Experience:
- Experience in community-based care is beneficial, but not required full training will be provided.
- Previous experience working with young adults who have traumatic brain injuries is advantageous.
- A valid drivers license is preferred.
Bank hours are available, with the possibility of more permanent hours in the future.
