Salary: £24,790 (pro rata for part time)
Status: Permanent (term time)
Hours: 37.5 hours p/w, Term Time only, Monday 8.30am to 5pm, Tues/Thurs 8.30am to 4.30pm, Friday 8.30am to 1.30pm

Teaching Assistant - The Role: Kisharon Langdon College is seeking a committed, skilled and compassionate Teacher Assistants to join our dedicated College team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a specialist College setting, supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally. The Teaching Assistant (TA) will work under the direction of the teacher and senior staff to support students in a college setting. The role focuses on promoting students’ independence, supporting access to learning, and enabling students to develop the academic, personal and employability skills needed for adulthood, further learning and work.
Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive, professional relationships with students, promoting confidence, independence and self-advocacy
- Support access to learning in line with individual plans and needs, encouraging increasing learner responsibility
- Assist teachers in delivering inclusive, effective lessons, including preparing resources and learning spaces
- Reinforce learning objectives using differentiated and personalised support strategies
- Support students during work experience, vocational learning and employer-led activities on and off site
- Use IT systems to record, upload and maintain accurate evidence of student progress
- Support the setting, monitoring and review of student targets in line with college policies
- Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals to achieve positive student outcomes
- Contribute positively to the ethos, values and wider community of Kisharon
Teaching Assistant - Your knowledge and skills:
- Experience of working with young people or adults in an education or similar setting (essential)
- Experience of supporting learners with additional needs, including SEND and/or social, emotional and mental health needs (desirable)
- Understanding of English and Maths sufficient to support learning at college level
- Understanding of how students learn and strategies to motivate and engage learners
- Ability to promote independence while providing appropriate support
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff and external partners
