As an effective problem-solver, you will work alongside a wide range of key partners, community groups and residents to find solutions for complex issues and make a positive impact on communities and people in Sandwell.

You will be responsible for the line management of the Neighbourhood Officers, supporting them to deliver a range of projects across Sandwell. Our core focus is to be Member Led, Customer Focused and Officer Driven. This impacts all the work we do as a team, where we demonstrate our values and behaviours every day.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a visible, hands-on presence and acting as a vital point of contact for local businesses, local residents and the wider community to support their involvement in community ownership and promote local priorities.
  • Leading on delivering ward-based action plans and engagement, proactively supporting ward councillors in fulfilling their community leadership roles and allocating local funding.
  • Being prepared to work outside in all weathers, with some evening and weekend work to meet community needs.
  • Playing a crucial part in problem-solving for residents, being an instrumental part of positive change within communities, shaping projects and improving the lives and local area for people in Sandwell.

About you

  • Educated to Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of working within a complex environment.
  • Have experience of establishing and managing collaborative working and partnership models.
  • Have experience of project work, ensuring its completion.
  • Have experience of line management responsibilities.
  • Be customer-focused, working effectively with others to deliver a responsive, efficient, agile, high quality service to residents.
  • Able to lead by example and set high standards.
  • Passionate about delivering the best possible outcomes for the people of Sandwell.
  • Resilient and able to use your communication skills to influence others.
  • Experienced in influencing, negotiating and problem solving with partners to deliver outcomes for communities.
