About the Role

Wakefield Inclusion Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Support Service (WISENDSS) are seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to work within our Vision Impairment Resource at Crofton Academy. This post is 32.5 hours term time only.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated individual to provide excellent support to our visually impaired pupils within the resource base and mainstream classes, that enables them to access learning and social opportunities alongside their peers.

What will be expected from me?

  • Experience of working with children with special educational needs and disabilities, particularly visual impairment would be an advantage however training will be given to the right person
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team with ability to also show initiative
  • Commitment to helping children learn and make good progress
  • Optimism, sense of humour and ability to solve problems
  • A willingness to learn

Essential requirements

  • Level 2 Numeracy / Literacy or willingness to work towards this.
  • Qualification in working with children with visual impairment for LSA working with VI/MSI children and young people or willingness to work towards this
