Thank you for your interest. We are looking for a Senior Social Worker (grade 10-11 pay scale) to join our Social Care Team based in Pioneer Court, Normanton. The role supports clients aged 18-65 with diagnosed mental health conditions across the Wakefield District.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct Care Act assessments, risk assessments, and develop person‑centred care plans.
  • Commission and coordinate services for clients within the Wakefield catchment area.
  • Collaborate with NHS partners and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Serve on the AMHP/BIA rota, oversee student social workers, and manage a complex caseload.
  • Prepare reports, attend court, and support carers and families.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Social Worker (or equivalent) with a degree or recognised qualification.
  • Post‑qualifying training or experience in relevant legislation (Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act).
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and engagement skills.
  • Experience managing complex workloads and supporting team members.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience as AMHP or willingness to complete post‑qualifying training.
  • Continued professional development participation.
