What You’ll Be Doing

As a Cook, you’ll be an essential part of our kitchen team, working under the guidance of the Unit Manager.

Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of kitchen tasks which are to provide nutritious, home cooked meals for our service users, manual handling, stock movement, and un-packing items.

This dynamic role offers you the chance to showcase your skills while contributing to the well-being of our community.

As a cook, you will get to know our service users, so will respond to any special dietary requirements or preferences, promoting choice, dignity and respect.

Essential Requirements

• Level 2 food safety certificate.
• GCSE Grades D-G/Functional Skills L1 in Maths & English Language.
• Willingness to undertake appropriate training to keep up to date with relevant changes to the service
• Knowledge of providing a well-balanced diet in line with Food Safety Legislation.
• Knowledge of Food Safety Standards
• Knowledge and understanding or the ability to attain Food Safety and Food Allergen legislation are essential to this role.
• Catering for larger numbers.
• Food ordering and budgeting.
• Planning menus.
• Experience of supervising staff.
• Be able to read and record information.
• Be able to communicate clearly.
• Be able to oversee other kitchen staff on a day-to-day basis.
• Be able to work as both a team member and individually.
• Be able to provide emotional support to service users in the service
• You will be working in a food service where a high standard of personal hygiene is of crucial importance

Desirable but not essential

• Knowledge of First Aid, moving and handling, and additional food hygiene certifications.
• Previous experience in Kitchen Domestic Work.
• Physical skills related to kitchen-based tasks, including food preparation and assisting the Cook.
