The Opportunity
Children and Families is recognized as a service that promotes development and well‑being for children, young people and their families, protecting them from neglect and abuse.
Working with partners and qualified social workers, the role delivers bespoke interventions that build resilience, remove barriers and enable families to move toward a brighter future.
- Accountabilities
- Support children and young people in care to have safe and meaningful family time in accordance with their care plans.
- Assist social workers in implementing and monitoring care plans, and write reports where required.
- Maintain high standards of professional practice contributing to continuous improvement across the service.
- Highlight issues and implement plans to safeguard a child.
- Build strong, effective relationships with service users, providing practical advice and support to enable sustained change and community functioning.
- Work collaboratively across service, with internal and external professional partner agencies, to ensure improved outcomes.
- Provide information and advice regarding involvement/access to third‑party agencies (e. g., benefits, immigration, housing).
- Participate in meetings, reviews, case conferences, and court hearings to provide information, insight and evidence.
- Write effective reports for professional meetings, forums and court.
- Achieve individual and shared targets defined annually within the performance management framework.
Qualifications and Experience
- NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and in‑depth knowledge in a relevant professional area.
- Experience building strong, effective relationships with children and families during challenge and crisis.
- Experience observing, facilitating and reporting on family time.
- Experience undertaking direct, activity‑based work with children and families.
- Knowledge of issues impacting children, young people and families and relevant government policy and legislative guidance.
- Proven track record working with partners and external agencies.
- A certificate in First Aid and/or knowledge of Sign Language desirable.
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area, including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond.
A driving licence and a car, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements through other means, is essential.
