The Network Planning division is seeking to appoint someone who is enthusiastic, an excellent team player and has technical ability as well as an eye for detail, to work within their Street Works and Temporary Traffic Management Team. As a Senior Technician, you will be working alongside other technical experts to co-ordinate various activities in the highway.

You will be responsible for the operation of temporary traffic management, road closures and temporary traffic signals, ensuring these functions are carried out in the highway in order to provide a safe and reliable network for all users. The role involves the assessment and review of proposed works within the highway, ensuring the methods used to carry out those works are suitable, safe and cause the least amount of disruption to the network.

You will manage and liaise closely with other technicians to ensure permit conditions are both appropriate and adhered to, whilst also resolving potential conflict on the highway with other works. You will also play a pivotal role in the operation of the newly formed Highways Network Information Centre; monitoring the Pre-emptive Traffic Management Systems and making key decisions, utilising IT and messaging facilities to reduce disruption and congestion during unplanned incidents on the network.

You will be required to liaise and work with a variety of stakeholders, assisting in developing key relationships.
