We have Tuesday to Friday or Monday to Friday working patterns available, both 37 hours per week. We require a loader to undertake the safe and efficient collection of refuse and recycling, which is a critical function for the Council. Our collection crews are led by the driver, and are among the most visible members of the Council workforce.

Working as part of a small crew within a dedicated area of the county, you will be responsible for collecting residual waste, garden waste, food waste, and recyclable materials from domestic properties. The role involves moving bags, wheelie bins, recycling boxes, and operating lifting mechanisms to empty waste into the vehicle. Health and safety is a key priority. You will play an important part in ensuring the safety of your team, the public, and the driver — supporting them with safe navigation through the streets of North Yorkshire. This is a frontline role within North Yorkshire Council, making you one of the visible representatives of the service and the Council. Early starts are required, and occasional weekend working may be necessary.
