The role involves being fundamental to ensuring the successful delivery of the Housing Service. This position requires a proactive and pragmatic approach to ensure the council’s housing assets meet current and future statutory and regulatory requirements. You will manage and motivate a locality‑based trade Electrical team ensuring behavioural, quality, and safety standards are adhered to.

The core focus of this job is to assist in the management of our housing Electrical domestic installations, compliance, and repairs programme to help the Council achieve its service goals. The successful applicant will manage a team of electrical trade‑based staff, advise on electrical technical issues and standards, manage the compliance of works across the council housing stock and report to the council duty holder on all matters with the council’s NICEIC registration’s delivery of new construction.

What you will bring:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience within the domestic Electrical Industry.
  • Relevant technical qualifications including NVQ Level 3 Electrical, CGBS 2391 Inspection and Testing or equivalent, 18th Edition BS 7671, SMSTS, IOSH.
  • Management of current best practices in social housing relating to tenant safety and decent home standards.
  • Experience in delivering quality housing repair works and understanding of electrical compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to problem solve and find pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience in managing a team with the ability to effectively prioritise, plan and organise workloads.
  • Creativity and the attitude to learn new skills within this evolving industry.
