What is involved?
As a Senior Housing Officer within the Homeless Prevention Team, you will be responsible for investigating and confirming decisions following applications to the authority under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended), the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and the assisted prevention of homelessness.
Working closely with accommodation providers and partner agencies, you will oversee the day-to-day delivery of Durham County Council’s duty to provide temporary accommodation, ensuring statutory duties are met and discharged efficiently in line with legislative requirements.
You will also supervise and support a team, monitoring performance to ensure timely decision-making and effective case management.

What will I need?
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Experience within a housing, homelessness or care related service(s)
- Knowledge of the Housing Act 1996, Part VII (Homelessness Act 2002) & Homeless Reduction Act 2017
