Are you looking for an opportunity to develop or further your career in Business Rates within a fast-paced Local Authority Revenue Service?
We are seeking a suitably qualified Business Rates Officer (Revenues and Benefits) to join our Resident and Business Support Service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic service that plays a vital role in the billing, collection and enforcement of Business Rates.
The successful candidate will have significant experience of Business Rates legislation, working with business to ensure that business rate accounts are administered accurately, whilst delivering excellent customer service.
This position is offered at Grade G and is therefore intended for suitably qualified and experienced candidates with a strong background in Business Rates administration and recovery.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in Business Rates, Revenues or a Local Government environment, including the administration and recovery of Business Rates.
- Strong knowledge of Business Rates legislation, including billing, recovery, enforcement, reliefs, exemptions and complex casework.
- The ability to accurately interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures, managing complex cases independently where required.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong customer service, communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the confidence to provide guidance and support to colleagues.
- Confidence using IT systems, maintaining accurate records and producing quality outputs.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and deliver performance targets.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, service development, efficiency and digital transformation, with a proven track record of delivering positive outcomes.
