Be at the heart of a service that makes a difference. We’re looking for an organised, customer-focused and proactive Planning and Admin Officer to join our Asset Management and Improvement Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of services that improve homes and communities across Sandwell. Working within a fast-paced environment, you’ll help coordinate resources, support operational teams, manage work scheduling and provide excellent customer service to a wide range of stakeholders.

From planning workloads and monitoring performance to supporting compliance activities and responding to customer enquiries, you’ll be an integral part of ensuring our services run efficiently and effectively.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitoring electronic work schedulers to ensure resources are used efficiently and KPI targets are achieved
  • Planning and coordinating workloads to ensure jobs are completed within agreed timescales
  • Supporting operational teams to maximise productivity and service delivery
  • Keeping customers and stakeholders informed throughout the customer journey
  • Maintaining and updating electronic scheduling and asset management systems
  • Providing administrative and technical support to managers and officers
  • Ordering materials and services using e‑procurement systems and processing invoices
  • Liaising with contractors, suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues and meet deadlines
  • Assisting with complaints, compliments, MP and Councillor enquiries and Housing Disrepair claims
  • Supporting the monitoring of compliance activities including gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, lifts, damp and mould and other safety‑related themes
  • Preparing reports, statistical information and meeting documentation, including taking minutes when required
  • Providing cover and support across the wider Asset Management and Improvement Directorate as required

About you:

You’ll be someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and has the ability to juggle competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

You will have:

  • GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, or the ability and experience to demonstrate you can perform the role
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public and a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience of working within a contact centre or customer‑facing environment
  • Experience of using electronic scheduling systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good ICT skills, including experience of Microsoft Office packages
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and respond positively to changing demands
  • A proactive and organised approach to problem‑solving
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service
