About the Role

This is more than a driving job — it’s a lifeline. As a Meals on Wheels Driver, you’ll be the vital link between our kitchen and the homes of those who rely on us for nourishment, safety, and human connection. You’ll be delivering hot, freshly prepared meals to individuals who may be elderly, disabled, or recovering from illness — people who often live alone and look forward to your visit as a highlight of their day. Your presence matters. You’re not just dropping off food — you’re offering a warm smile, a moment of conversation, and a watchful eye that could make all the difference. You’ll be trained to spot signs of concern and know how to respond appropriately, ensuring that every delivery is also a wellbeing check.

Job Summary

  • A valid Category B driving licence — allowing you to drive small vans safely and legally
  • Confidence behind the wheel— with solid driving skills and a good knowledge of the local area
  • Ability to use a sat nav or navigation app— ensuring efficient route planning and timely deliveries
  • Physical capability for manual handling tasks— such as transferring insulated food containers and battery packs onto trollies and into vehicles
  • A caring and compassionate nature— with a genuine desire to support vulnerable individuals in Sandwell’s community

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver meals promptly and safely across a designated route
