We are seeking a passionate and skilled MSK (Musculo-skeletal) Specialist Instructor to join our team and support the health and wellbeing of the working-age population across North Yorkshire.
This pivotal role focuses on addressing chronic lower back pain and other MSK conditions, particularly among individuals who are unemployed, off work, or at risk of work absence.As an MSK Specialist Instructor, you will lead on delivering targeted interventions, including personalised assessments, rehabilitation programmes, and group sessions.
You will work collaboratively with local healthcare providers, employers, and community organisations to create clear pathways back into employment for participants.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Health and Wellbeing Manager in delivering MSK Trailblazer priorities across the Active North Yorkshire service.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver MSK health assessments, collecting baseline data and developing personalised rehabilitation plans.
- Deliver condition-specific programmes incorporating nutritional advice, lifestyle support, behaviour change, pain management, and physical activity. Facilitate access to employment for individuals affected by MSK conditions, supporting their return to full duties.
- Use positive psychology, behaviour change techniques, and motivational interviewing to deliver person-centred services.
- Engage with clients to ensure services are responsive to their needs and maintain high standards of customer care.
- Coordinate promotional activities, including stakeholder communications, web content updates, and social media. Liaise with primary and secondary healthcare providers, occupational health services, and employers regarding MSK referrals.
- Develop and disseminate MSK-targeted programmes to improve health outcomes and reduce absenteeism.
- Gather client feedback to inform continuous service improvement. Maintain effective communication between healthcare partners, employers, and Active North Yorkshire to ensure a closed-loop referral system.

- Experience in MSK rehabilitation, health promotion, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A commitment to improving health outcomes and supporting individuals back into employment.
Qualifications
Applicants must have at least:
- L2 Gym
- L3 GP referral (or willing to train within 1 month)
- L4 Chronic lower back pain specialist (or willing to train within 6 weeks)
