Position Summary

As an Agile Recovery Worker within the Specialist Support & Recovery Breakthrough Team, you will provide intensive, trauma‑informed support to adults in County Durham who are experiencing hoarding and self‑neglect behaviours, helping them achieve positive outcomes and pursue a safer and more independent future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with individuals in their own homes to support positive lasting change.
  • Build trusted relationships and provide practical and emotional support to create safer, manageable living environments.
  • Assist with the organisation, sorting, moving and, where agreed, removal of belongings as part of an individual support plan.
  • Collaborate with a colleague on a 2:1 basis where required and perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying and moving items safely.
  • Maintain accurate records, coordinate with colleagues and partner agencies, and manage workload flexibly Monday to Friday.
  • Work flexibly 37 hours per week for 12 months.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5 GCSEs grade A*–C or 9–4, or an equivalent NVQ Level 3.
  • Relevant experience supporting adults with mental health or housing challenges is desirable.
  • Resilience, professionalism and a compassionate, person‑centred approach.
  • Additional Requirements
  • Application requires a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.
  • Role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
