Highways Services are looking for a Highways Inspector to join their Team.
What is involved?
- You will undertake statutory highway safety inspections of both carriageways and footways.
- Investigate requests or complaints via asset management systems and CRM system and respond appropriately to highways emergencies.
- The successful applicant must have experience in a highway works environment, knowledge of highway inspections and highway maintenance procedures.
- Experience of undertaking highways safety inspections would be an advantage.
- Completion of forms and witness statements as part of DCC statutory defence of Public Liability Claims, which may also require attendance at site meetings and court appearances.
- Assistance with the preparation of work schedules and the supervision of all work carried out within an area, including cyclic and minor maintenance work undertaken by Operations and private contractors.
- Involvement with winter maintenance operations, which includes assisting in the efficient organisation of the work, supervising and issuing instructions to contractors.
- The post will require participation in the out of hours winter maintenance rota.
What will I need?
- NVQ Level 3 in highways related discipline or equivalent.
- Experience in a highways maintenance or construction related environment.

If successful, you will be required to undertake and pass an in-house driving assessment as part of our pre-employment checks before any offer of appointment can be confirmed.
