Health Care and Education Assistant x12. Temporary Contract until 31/08/2027. Part Time, Term Time Only – 32.5 hrs (08:20‑15:20 Mon‑Fri).

The Governors of Evergreen Primary School are delighted to invite applications for 12 passionate, creative and dedicated Health Care and Education Assistants to join our exceptional team. Evergreen is a thriving, nurturing specialist setting with 212 wonderful pupils with a range of Complex Needs, including SLD, ASC and PMLD. Many of our pupils have additional co-occurring needs such as ADHD. Our curriculum is highly personalised and adapted to meet each child’s unique learning profile and help them achieve meaningful progress.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils’ health needs
  • Assist learners with feeding difficulties, including those with a gastrostomy and tracheoscopy
  • Provide intimate care to meet pupils’ needs
  • Work with teachers, teaching assistants, and other professionals to provide effective support and care to pupils, tailoring support to the needs of individual pupils if necessary
  • Support small groups of children and individuals within the classroom and/or externally to the main class as required
  • Follow the school’s policy and procedures for safeguarding, moving and handling and behaviour support, including the use of restrictive physical intervention if necessary to keep children safe
  • Present oneself as a role model to pupils in speech, dress, behaviour and attitude
  • Undertake appropriate training and administer prescribed medication when required, including emergency medication
  • Complete training relating to the role which will be provided by school or health.

Pay & Leave

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

  • Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks
  • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days)
  • Individual leave entitlement – 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave.
