Are you the kind of person who naturally looks out for others and loves working as part of a community? Across North Yorkshire, our Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team keeps our community moving. Our extensive network of more than 120 vehicles, mainly minibuses, and approximately 340 drivers and passenger assistants work tirelessly to deliver safe, reliable transport where it’s needed most. From providing essential local bus services to unlocking access to learning, employment, and social centres, we ensure nobody gets left behind.

The team delivers approximately 250,000 passenger journeys per year including 20,000 wheelchair user journeys.

About the role

Experience is not essential; however, some experience of driving minibus type vehicles or working in a similar role would be an advantage for this post. We are looking for a caring, flexible, and committed person to help transport clients that require additional support to get to and from a range of different venues. You will be helping to make sure all our passengers enjoy a safe and comfortable journey:

  • Driving accessible and non-accessible minibuses and other vehicles along with undertaking minor vehicle repairs as and when necessary.
  • Ensuring all passengers board, travel, and alight safely, while ensuring that any safety equipment is used correctly. Full equipment training is provided.
  • Using your great communication skills to connect and collaborate with school and centre staff, parents, carers, and colleagues.

D1 or D1 (101) entitlement on your driving licence is an essential requirement for this role. We offer a comprehensive training package including Minibus Driver Awareness Training Scheme (MIDAS), Basic First Aid, and Managing Challenging Behaviour.

Please note that the salary advertised is the full-time equivalent rate. For term time only employees, the annual salary is calculated pro rata and paid evenly over 12 months.
