We’re seeking Engineers to join a small design team within our Strategic Infrastructure Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering highway safety improvements, sustainable transport initiatives, and public realm enhancements supporting Calderdale’s residents, businesses and visitors.

About the Team:
The Traffic Engineering Team is responsible for developing and delivering highway safety and traffic management solutions across Calderdale. Our work ranges from highway improvement and sustainable transport projects to public realm schemes and developer-funded highway works. As part of the team, you’ll contribute to the delivery of projects funded through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) programme (and its replacement), as well as a growing portfolio of highway and infrastructure projects.
Your key responsibilities and duties will include:
- Preparing design solutions and developing innovative and practical highway safety and improvement schemes.
- Ensuring that the Council complies with legislative requirements.
- Undertaking work programming, estimating, supervision and reporting on scheme progress.
- Providing technical advice to elected Members, colleagues and members of the public.
- Working collaboratively with internal services, developers, consultants and external stakeholders.
- Mentoring trainees and other staff.
- Progressing permanent and experimental Traffic Regulation Orders.
What We’re Looking for:
- Proven experience in traffic engineering.
- A strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and local authority procedures.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience delivering engineering projects from concept through to implementation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and with external partners.

This role is based in the UK.
