The Team Manager leads the Child and Young People’s support team to deliver bespoke interventions to children and young people with complex disabilities, and their families. The manager will possess a deep understanding of the impact of disability upon families and how to support effective positive behaviour support. With proven ability to focus on results, develop innovative solutions and build strong working relationships with partners, schools, and multi-disciplinary teams. The role will involve providing leadership and support across a team of support staff, enabling the development of individuals within the team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Using expertise and professional knowledge to provide guidance on complex cases and ensuring delivery of a high-quality service with positive outcomes.
  • Managing allocation of all referrals, incoming work, and tasks to staff individually and being responsible for the ongoing monitoring of workload and closure of cases.
  • Managing all recruitment and induction processes for new staff, identifying and overseeing training needs for staff and liaising with ESCA regarding any specific identified training needs.
  • Undertaking all regular and planned supervision to review personal and professional development of staff, as well as providing reflective case supervision and completing staff annual performance capabilities.
  • Providing management oversight on outcomes of interventions, support plans, and reports such as Child Protection conference reports.
  • Establishing, developing and maintaining productive working relationships with other relevant agencies and organisations, and working in a multi-disciplinary way to achieve best outcomes for families.
  • Actively participating in wider strategic developments by attending relevant meetings with partners in Health, learning Disability services and Commissioning.
  • Managing and overseeing quality assurance of services provided.
  • Managing and responding to complaints or compliments received and implementing any learning from these.
  • Using data information systems (PowerBi) to monitor specific data and using this to inform any service planning and/or team plans, such as efficient throughput of work.
  • Ensuring all staff understand and follow SET procedures and any concerns are highlighted and recorded correctly, following ECC policies and guidance.
  • Continuing to expand and develop the service as required to ensure continued delivery of high-quality services.
  • Providing consistent advice, guidance, support, and consultation to colleagues across all relevant services, including other frontline teams.

The Experience You Will Bring:

  • A recognised social work qualification i.e., Diploma, degree or Masters in social work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, with current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a registered social worker.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development, aligned to any relevant Professional Competency/Capability frameworks or Knowledge and Skills Statements.
  • Experience of managing staff in a supervisory role.
  • Specialist knowledge of disability and its impact on families, trauma, challenging behaviour, and positive behaviour support management.
  • Knowledge of Children Act 1989 and 2004, the Care Act 2014 and other legislative and policy guidance applicable within Children’s Social Care, including SET procedures.
  • Ability to lead team meetings and contribute to other relevant professional meetings.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in partnership with other agencies and professionals to maximise outcomes for disabled children and their families.
  • Ability to complete written reports to a good standard.

Requirements:

  • The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area, including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency.
  • Driving licence and car or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
