We aim to continually improve the services provided to local people as part of our commitment to enhance the quality of their lives and the environment we all live in and enjoy. You will deliver a comprehensive refuse and recycling service for the Council, whilst ensuring the safe and effective completion of collection rounds across the service.

In return, we offer working hours which are weekdays only and no evenings/weekends except some Saturdays in December/January. The hours are great for those who value their work/life balance and enjoy helping the local community.

As well as the driving aspect, you should be physically capable of undertaking repeated and frequent entries and exits of the cab of refuse collection and other vehicles, as well as some carrying and lifting of materials and paper sacks. This post is also suited to those who enjoy working outdoors in all conditions.

As a refuse driver/loader you will have:

  • Category C driving licence with previous LGV driving experience
  • Current driver's Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

You will be:

  • Team leader for the crew
  • Supervising the collection of waste and subsequent tipping
  • Responsible for the daily vehicle defect checks
  • Working as part of a team
