An exciting opportunity for a Senior Support Worker to join the Divisional Based Intervention Teams (D‑BIT) Connecting and Uniting Families team on a 12‑month fixed‑term or secondment role.

The team works in partnership with front‑line children’s services, devising robust and structured connecting/reunification plans and supporting families intensively for up to 18 months.

This role also includes Staying Close work, supporting young people up to 25 years to connect or unite with families, providing ongoing support for transition into adulthood.

Working arrangements are flexible, and a percentage of family‑based activity may need to take place outside of usual working hours.

• Accountabilities
• Support social workers and occupational therapists to implement and monitor care plans, and write reports.
• Maintain high standards of professional practice and contribute to continuous improvement across the service.
• Highlight issues and implement plans to safeguard a child.
• Build strong, effective relationships with service users, providing practical advice and support to enable children and families to sustain change.
• Work collaboratively across the service and with external partner agencies to ensure improved outcomes.
• Provide information and advice on accessing third‑party agencies relevant to the service user’s needs (e. g., benefits, immigration, housing).
• Participate in meetings, reviews, case conferences and court hearings to provide information, insight and evidence.
• Write effective reports for professional meetings, forums and court.
• The Experience You Will Bring
• Educated to NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent experience.
• Evidence of continuing professional development and in‑depth knowledge in a relevant professional area.
• Experience building strong, effective relationships with children and families during challenging and crisis times.
• Experience observing, facilitating and reporting on contact.
• Experience undertaking direct, activity‑based work with children and families.
• Knowledge of the issues impacting children, young people and families requiring support.
• Knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within social care settings.
• Proven track record working with partners and external agencies.
• Certificate in First Aid and/or knowledge of Sign Language desirable.

Role requires mobility across Essex and beyond; a driving licence and access to a vehicle (or other suitable means) is essential.
