Overview This is a part time opportunity for 18.5 hours per week.
The pro rata’d salary range is £18,717.50 to £22,020.50 per annum.
This role sits at the heart of the Essex Safeguarding Adults Board, providing a vital link between safeguarding partners, professionals, stakeholders and the public.
The post offers the opportunity to work across a complex multi‑agency partnership, collaborating with organisations including local authorities, health services, police, and the voluntary sector to promote effective safeguarding practice across Essex.
Combining strategic communications, media management, stakeholder engagement and event delivery, the role supports high‑profile safeguarding activity, including Safeguarding Adult Reviews, conferences and awareness campaigns.
It is a varied and influential position that helps ensure key safeguarding messages reach the right audiences, strengthens partnership working, and contributes directly to improving outcomes for adults at risk.
Supporting the Board Manager of the Essex Safeguarding Adults Board (ESAB), the role will involve delivering complex and often politically sensitive pieces of work to meet the communications objectives of the Boards.
Accountabilities Supporting and advising the Safeguarding Boards on all public and professional communications and engagement related activity.
Responsible for managing events and conferences organised by the Board; working collaboratively with the Board support team to ensure effective delivery.
Responsible for managing the Boards media engagement, particularly with regard to the coordination of media activity around Serious Case Reviews and Safeguarding Adult Reviews.
Responsible for managing the Boards web‑based and social media related activity.
Responsible for managing stakeholder communications.
Work collaboratively to deliver effective internal and external communications functions for the Boards.
Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
The Experience You Will Bring Educated to degree level or equivalent by marketing/communications experience with evidence of continuing professional development and strong knowledge in relevant professional area.
Excellent interpersonal, writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and accurately to a variety of audiences, both internal and external.
Proven project management experience in a multi‑disciplinary field within marketing/communications, with strong research and initiative‑taking skills.
Previous experience of working in a political environment and an understanding of Local Government.
Demonstrable understanding of communications channels including print, media and e‑communications.
Significant experience in an internal communications environment for a large multi‑disciplinary organisation.
Evidence of the ability to develop and sustain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Ability to work at pace and under pressure.
