This position is available as a fixed‑term contract for up to 12 months. The role will be hybrid‑working, contractually based in Chelmsford with occasional office attendance.
As part of the Education & Care Commission’s strategy to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND, the Autism Training Coordinator will lead the analysis, design and delivery of Autism Education Trust (AET) training programmes for schools and early years settings across Essex.
Accountabilities- Demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills in rolling out and leading delivery of training programmes across Essex.
- Oversee, quality‑assure, coordinate and support training across a team of delivery partners.
- Ensure county‑wide support for early years settings and schools to embed AET frameworks.
- Build capacity and support inclusion of autistic children and young people within mainstream settings.
- Evaluate and report to stakeholders on the effectiveness and impact of the training delivered across the county.
- Coordinate and support internal teams to implement a common language and understanding of autism among professionals.
- Lead and develop communities of practice for professionals supporting autistic children, young people and their families.
- Lead accountability to a steering group of stakeholders overseeing rollout and implementation of training programmes across the county and East of England Region.
- Maintain collaborative and positive relationships with partner organisations, stakeholders, including autistic children, young people and their families/carers.
- Use insight and evidence for continuous improvement in systems, processes and delivery.
- Identify and implement processes and structures for the long‑term sustainability of the training programmes in Essex.
Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
Experience and Qualifications- Educated to RQF level 6 (Bachelor’s degree) with a SEND or teaching qualification, or equivalent by experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
- Strong ability to lead delivery of autism advice and training.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver training to a range of professionals.
- Strong commitment to creating outstanding autistic specialist provision.
- Proficient experience of providing Autism advice, coaching or mentoring to professionals and families/carers.
- Able to build collaborative and influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Capability to drive cultural, strategic and operational change in a collaborative way.
