Join Kirklees Council and help create safe, high-quality places for people to live and work. As a Building Control Manager, you’ll lead a dedicated team delivering Building Regulations and public safety services, supporting communities and local businesses.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Building Control service across regulations and public safety
  • Deliver projects and services on time and within budget
  • Provide expert technical advice to senior leaders and elected members
  • Ensure compliance with Building Safety standards and legislation
  • Manage service budgets, income targets, and performance
  • Support and develop team members through clear leadership and supervision
  • Represent the council at local, regional, and national level (including LABC)

About You

  • Professional qualification (e.g. MRICS, CABE, IFE or equivalent)
  • Be a Registered Building Inspector (Class 3 or 4)
  • Significant experience in Building Control management
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, fire safety, and health & safety
  • Experience managing complex or large-scale developments
  • Experience working within a political or public sector environment
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Confident using IT systems and managing service data
