Contract Details

  • 15/18 Month Contract
  • Full Time – Term Time Only + 2 weeks
  • 37 hours per week (08:15 – 16:15 Monday to Thursday, 08:15 – 15:45 Friday)

The Governors of Evergreen Primary School are delighted to invite applications for 1 passionate, creative and dedicated PE Apprentice to join our exceptional team.

Evergreen is a thriving, nurturing specialist setting with 212 wonderful pupils with a range of Complex Needs, including SLD, ASC and PMLD. Many of our pupils have additional co-occurring needs such as ADHD. Our curriculum is highly personalised and adapted. It is designed to meet each child’s unique learning profile and help them achieve meaningful progress.

Main Duties

  • Supporting PE throughout the school
  • Helping to deliver lunchtime and after school clubs
  • Supporting the preparation of school teams for festivals and competitions
  • Taking small groups of children for an activity and working collaboratively with class teachers/coaches
  • Supporting the administration of PE and school sport
  • Helping to maintain a safe and tidy work environment, both in and out of doors
  • Supporting within other curriculum areas if required
  • Undertaking training 1 day per week with SFT/ Go Well and complete portfolio work.

This role is customer facing and you will be required to speak to members of the public so the ability to converse at ease with customers in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Payment Calculation (Term Time Only + 2 weeks)

Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

  • Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks
  • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days)
  • Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD – 2 weeks
  • Individual leave entitlement – 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave.

Example payments:

  • Employees with less than 5 years’ service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
  • Employees with more than 5 years’ service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
