CCTV Support Officer

The CCTV Monitoring and Enforcement Officer is responsible for supporting the Waste Enforcement Team by monitoring and reviewing CCTV footage across Wandsworth and Richmond boroughs to identify fly‑tipping and other environmental enforcement offences. The role involves operating surveillance systems in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice, maintaining accurate records of incidents, compiling evidential packages including witness statements, and ensuring all CCTV equipment and associated data are managed securely. The postholder also liaises with colleagues, responds to enquiries, and contributes to the effective use of CCTV technology to support enforcement activities.

Objective of the role

The primary objective of the role is to detect, investigate, and provide evidence of environmental offences, particularly fly‑tipping, through the effective monitoring and review of CCTV footage. By identifying incidents, maintaining accurate and legally compliant records, and providing timely intelligence and recommendations, the role supports enforcement action, helps improve environmental standards across the boroughs, and contributes to creating cleaner, safer communities. The postholder also plays a key role in identifying trends, optimising camera deployment, and supporting continuous improvement within the Inspection and Enforcement Service.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of Waste and CCTV Legislation: Understanding of relevant waste enforcement and CCTV legislation, ensuring compliance with legal and operational requirements.
• Experience of Record Keeping and Data Management: Proven ability to review, maintain, and manage record‑keeping systems and processes accurately and securely.
• Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with experience of dealing with correspondence and engaging professionally with members of the public, colleagues, and senior managers.
• Reporting: Experience to analyse data and produce reports.
• Manage workloads: Experience of organising and prioritising workloads with minimal supervision, using initiative to meet deadlines and operational requirements.
• Team working: Ability to produce accurate work while managing multiple tasks, adapt to changing business needs, and work effectively as part of a team.
