We’re currently seeking a Restorative Justice Worker to join our dynamic Youth Justice Service. This role plays a vital part in delivering the Kirklees Youth Justice Plan, which brings together partner agencies to reduce crime and its impact on individuals and communities. As a Restorative Justice Worker, you will be passionate about giving victims of youth crime a voice and creating opportunities for children involved in the youth justice system to repair the harm caused by their offending behaviour. You will be responsible for coordinating the offer and delivery of all restorative processes to victims linked to youth crime. You will be motivated to work with both complex and vulnerable children and the victims of their offending to create a safe environment where everyone can have a voice and you can facilitate the best outcomes for everyone.
We are looking for people who can display empathy, have strong communication skills and the ability to enable others to communicate with each other such as mediation skills. You will understand attachment and developmental trauma, child development and the victim recovery model to effectively engage both children and victims. Good assessment skills and being able to respond independently and effectively to resolve problems and situations as they arise will be key. You will be able to demonstrate strong emotional resilience and practice, as well as upskilling and supporting the wider YJS service to manage and embed restorative practices.
You will be working with children and adults as part our service and will work across various stages of the criminal justice system, including Out of Court Disposals, Community-based Court Orders and Detention and Training Orders. We have our own Restorative Justice Team which you will become part of within the Youth Justice Service.
