The Team

Join our Team in Community Projects and you’ll be working in a team responsible for the preparation and processing of Traffic Regulation Orders to support the development of safe and effective traffic movements around the district. We work in a busy environment where no day’s the same. We develop, process, and deliver many different highway safety initiatives throughout Kirklees. We work closely with local councillors and members of the public as well as a number of other teams and external bodies to improve the safety of all road users including our most vulnerable users.

The Role

We’d like to hear from you if you:

  • Can manage a small team and help junior officers design minor traffic schemes when needed.
  • Can prioritise your workloads.
  • Have experience of dealing with challenging customers and have a strong customer focus.
  • Can investigate and respond to requests from the public, Local Councillors, and MPs and develop a range of solutions to a wide range of Highway Safety issues.
  • Have the necessary skills to work in a political environment.
  • Have some basic knowledge/experience of what is involved in processing ‘Traffic Regulations Orders’ and when and where they are used.
  • Can consult with a wide range of people.
  • Can assess the potential impacts of proposed housing on the Highway Network.
